By the time anyone reads this, I will have already run the race so this will all be wrong and pointless, but….
I went by to get my packet for the 5k tomorrow morning and asked how many people signed up. They said “93 …. for all 3 events”, meaning the 5k, duathlon and 1k kids run. My age group has six people, so hopefully I can get top five there. But I looked up last year’s results and the overall winner was 15:50 with a few 17s and 18s after that. Out of 44 runners something like 15% were under 18:30. Gotta be one of the faster races around, percentage wise.
I still don’t know the course route, but I tried to devine it from various tidbits, and from what I can tell there is a 200 foot incline over the last half mile. I hope that’s not right. Whatever. I’m just using it as training. I’ll probably try to get there early and run 5 miles or so, race the 5k, then run some more after, treating it as part of a long run type workout.
Curious to see how it turns out.

Spring racing season is over for me after running today’s Bun Run 5k. To that in a moment, but let’s call the season a success. The goal was to get faster in the shorter distances this Spring and I did that. Four races, 3 PRs. The lone non-PR race, the Capitol 10,000, was still a [...]
I’d like to polish the Knob more often, hopefully this is a start. I still have goals, and I thought it was beneficial in the past to recount them here, so I’d like to resume that habit. It’s tiresome to be so navel-gazing all the time though, so I’d like the Knob to branch out [...]
Well what’s this? A web log, or as the kids call it these days, a b’log? Why yes, yes it is. Keeping the knob on life support, hanging on by a thread. It’s been a couple months since I last posted some gibberish about cat pictures, so how about a return to the days [...]
